One of my favourite places to park my camper-van is at Bampton in North Devon during the ‘After the Fair’ Bampton Folk Music Festival (end of October to beginning of November).
This is a small festival originally started with a grant but which now keeps going year after year run by volunteers just because people enjoy coming and want to come again.
Most of the action takes place in the pubs where there are non-stop music and singing sessions lunchtimes and evenings over the weekend of the festival with musicians and singers from Brittany, Ireland, the Isle of Wight, Cornwall and lots of other places.
During the Bampton Horse Fair, parking can be difficult, I found, but as soon as the main Bampton car park is empty of the fair-ground vehicles and shows, the day after the Horse Fair, space becomes available for the camper vans and caravans owned by folk musicians and singers who arrive, park up and happily get stuck into playing and singing.
Bampton Folk Festival is a great place to park my camper van and I always look forward to going back there for the great community atmosphere.
Bye for now
Rob
